lay it to rest (and move on)
I get so lost in my head sometimes,
Convince myself that I might die,
But what have I even done with this life?
Just been waiting for it to pass by,
Been telling myself these little white lies
Now I lay in a bed of cotton,
Made with mistruths I’ve forgotten.
Should lay it to rest, and move on -
I’m cursed with these memories
Still feel them strangle me,
But what can I do if I can’t breathe?
You were everything I thought I knew,
Turns out it was the fumes,
Of this glue holding me to you when I didn’t want to
Ripped my skin off a little bit,
Hurt a lot more than I’ll admit
How’s it feel to finally win?
Guess you’d say we’ve been through a lot
So I drank enough for the two of us.
Now I tell too many stories
Walking through hell and feeling sorry
Should lay it to rest, and move on -
I’m cursed with these memories
You’ve some kind of hold on me,
Aren’t we supposed to be free?
Forgot everything else I knew,
Trapped myself in this blue,
They say I could get out if I really want to
But what is life without a little pain?
Like sunshine on a rainy day
I get so lost in my head sometimes,
Convince myself that I might die,
But what have I even done with this life?
Just been waiting for it to pass by,
Been telling myself these little white lies.
Now I lay in a bed of cotton,
Made with mistruths I’ve forgotten.
Should lay it to rest, and move on
