COLOURS
The colours faded
You’re a washed out shade of blue
I’ve always hated
A once so vibrant hue but we were jaded
And complacent
Running stagnant
Just a fragment
A forgotten fantasy
Where we were naked
Our limbs twisted in the sheets
So hard to say it
But all things lose their shine
Just give it time
just give it time
Ruby red lips left a stain on your cheek
Painted me green with envy
Aquamarine eyes avoid mine
The dullness is overwhelming
The colours fade to nothing
Now it’s all grey
Everyday walking through
A liminal space
But I saw all the colours once on your face
A fascinating
Illustration
You were painted
A vivid masquerade
I was awestruck
Until our colours swirled into
a brown muck
Oh all things lose their glow
I get so low
Get so low
Ruby red lips left a stain on your cheek
Painted me green with envy
Aquamarine eyes avoid mine
The dullness is overwhelming
The colours fade to nothing
Primed over our canvas
Trying to start anew
But underneath the surface
Our mistakes show through
From a primary colour
Blended in other shades
Your eyes for another
Created a new grey
Ruby red lips left a stain on your cheek
Painted me green with envy
Aquamarine eyes avoid mine
The dullness is overwhelming
The colours fade…
