She makes a harrowing escape
Down a narrow passageway
No light illuminating her path
Yet she continues onward
In a direction that feels like it will lead her
Out of the past
Held steadfast a decade at last
Coming to a close
She feels it in her bones
A tingle or a pain, something very strange
But something she knows
She knows
Conclusions that happen suddenly
Whiplash endings
Relief with a side of agony
In darkness she continues
Going going
Into unknown
But the routine feeling lingers
Despite unnamed location
She can’t run away from everything
Not when she carries it with her
Tight in chest
Close to vest
Breadcrumb trails and ribbon markers
She knows her way back
Through the darkness
In case the novelty wears off
And the possibility stings more
Than the past aches
